That line is really well documented.

http://pocahontas.morenus.org/poca_desc.html

http://www.accessgenealogy.com/native/pocahontas/

http://www.powhatan.org/powfaq.html

Lots of people think she had a "relationship" with John Smith, but of course, she and Smith only participated in a ritual of mock execution and redemption to bring the two distrustful tribes (Powatan and English) together. She married another John, John Rolfe, and went to England, where she was a sensation, and was introduced to English society as a "Princess". She was a princess of course, but well out of the line of succession, so the famous rebuke from Queen Anne to John Rolfe that he married royalty without her permission is considered to be bogus.

Neat story though.STAGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06198646624631167489noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8779390.post-19893205279171946572008-06-03T03:31:00.000-04:002008-06-03T03:31:00.000-04:00A little interesting thing - Dear Cheri of Berry ...A little interesting thing - Dear Cheri of Berry Batch blogdom is a DIRECT DESCENDANT of Pocahontas.

how cool is that?Carahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07679741742125922220noreply@blogger.com
