More anthems

On the theme of anthems, I have been spending a morning listening to, of all people, Vera Lynn.

Lots of good footage.  I was particulary taken with the fellow at about six minutes who even at 90 years old wept not for himself but for the people he liberated.    And even at 83, Vera Lynn has a smokey bass with perfect pitch which brings tears to my eyes.

I think the Maple Leaf should have been Canada's National Anthem. But aside from the God references which infest my beloved national anthem, its not so bad. I guess.
