The winner, in my opinion. Two details which are important are the double arch with no armature, and the drapery the figure is wearing. This is wet sand! OMG!

This is the helmet I made for Ron B. VERY simple. Elegant? Hmmmm. It was really difficult to make something that looks that simple!

March snow

After the snow storm.

During the snowstorm. We got 52 centimeters of snow in one weekend.

The snow drifts even covered my cheap garage!

The sidewalk snow plow doesn't even TRY to keep the stuff off my driveway! Here he has put up a two foot ridge of snow from the sidewalk.

I cannot even see over that ridge of snow the plow made.

The drifts just keep on drifting! Here is a perfect mould of the door in the snow drift. Not very often I have to start shoveling from INSIDE the house.

And I hear there is another on its way. Surprisingly enough, even with the 4 meters of snow on the ground, (more than 12 feet) this is not a record. We are all wondering if trying to achieve a record is really a good thing.....

At least with global warming, the weather has been absolutely wonderful. Just below freezing, not a lot of melting slush. I think I'll dig out my snow shoes today and see how the rest of the estate is holding up.

Santa Paulo in Rome

Above are the popes, starting from Peter. All in a row. There are a lot of them! I like the windows up there...they are not stained glass...but rather, thin sheets of amythyst.

The woodwork on the portico which encloses the garden courtyard.

For lovers of good woodwork, these shots are priceless!

The little courtyard. With a few tourists....

The base of a rather larger pillar. Don't quite know how old it is, but there are soldiers in chain mail carved midway along it. There is a lot of pagan influences on this pillar. It sits pretty much above the tomb where St. Paul is buried.

A light shines on the current Pope.

A good shot of the ceiling. Beatifully coffered. Not ancient....likely no more than a couple hundred years old.

The pillars are all robbed from existing Pagan Roman temples, probably from Rome, but some must have come come from Hadrian's Villa.
