Lights

After a remarkably good Turkey, we walked it off in the traditional way....a tour around Parliament Hill. The building was lit up with projected snowflakes...the only snow in the region. Hah! And about a gazillion lights donated by a local hardware store. The big maple trees look kind of bashful, all bedecked out in lights. Somebody had placed flowers on the tomb of the unknown soldier, and somebody else has left Hershey's Kisses.

Thank you for your visit and comment at my blog. Often folks feel the need to leave pleasant and complimentary comments. I liked your comment. Simple, honest. A good and fair reaction.

I have visited your blog now and then and this morning I spent a little time at your business web site. I enjoy the way it is laid out and your friendly way of sharing what it is you are all about.

I just finished reading your post and beam page and that sounds like quite an experience.

You might find it interesting that my wife's name is Brenda and I too am a William, though I go by Will.

Happy new year! If I ever do a Canadian road trip (our favorite sort of vacation) I'll have to try to catch up with wherever you happen to be.

I noticed that! I prefer Bill...made it tricky what with my wife's father and brother named Bill as well, but I survived.

My commentary generally speaking is just that...comments. First thing which comes into my mind usually. I presume if you didn't like comments you would disable them. And you didn't, so you do.

Your art work was disturbing. I am sure you intended it to be that way. It stuck with me for quite a while, and caused some thought. That was the intention. It succeeded.

The business web site flies in the face of everything they told me about building web pages. It is too large, too complex, too chatty and personal. It is reasonably effective...and I think I may build in a proper table of contents sometime in the future.

Hope you, and ALL my readers have a Merry Christmas, a tip top Tet, a Kwazy Kwanza, and a solem and dignified Ramadan.

We didn't have snow either.
Well there is snow on the ground but it's old stuff so it doesn't count.

Bill:

I liked the busines web site, even though it is large and complex. I could have read for a lot longer! I enjoy the style and it makes me feel like I know you a little bit. And the bit that I see makes me feel that I would feel safe and have fun doing business with you.

I wanted to thank you for dropping by and commenting on the painting I did for my church last Sunday (Christmas Eve).

I also wanted to invite you to help yourself to the finished image (completed this afternoon). The emphasis is now more on the smile and the wounds have been down played in golden glow.

If you can use it in anyway, please feel free.

I know, it is an image of the baby Jesus with stigmata.
The mangled image of a baby injured by torture. Too disturbing for me to handle. Emotions created are too intense....I would want to lash out and destroy the person or persons who did it. So who am I supposed to kill? Romans? Jews? Pagans in general? Lapsed Catholics? All non Christians? So who am I supposed to protect? All children, or only Christian children?
Standing in place is not an option. Your painting is a clear call to action...trouble is, there are no options which are viable. Your mileage may differ.
As I said, it is disturbing. Too disturbing for me to handle. Check back with me in a year or two when I have had time to mull it over.
They say the test of a true artist is the ability to raise emotions in the viewer. You are all of that!
